The JSPS Alumni Association of Indonesia (JAAI), in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Indonesian Researcher Union (PPI), and JSPS, is proud to announce The General Assembly Meeting and The 9th International Symposium of JAAI
As Indonesia approaches its centennial, the nation stands on the brink of a “demographic bonus” and is projected to become the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2045. . However, realizing this vision requires not just economic expansion, but sustainable breakthroughs in food, energy, and health.
Answering this call, this year’s theme is “JAAI’s Role Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.”
.We invite researchers, lecturers, students, and industry professionals to join this hybrid event to explore how science-based innovation can drive the transition toward a sustainable and prosperous society.
Event Highlights
Day 1: International Symposium (Monday, 9 February 2026)
The symposium features a high-level lineup of keynote speakers discussing the intersection of education, bio-engineering, and sustainable waste models:
- Prof. Dr. Arif Satria (Chairman of BRIN).
- Prof. Shinji Kaneko (Vice Rector, Hiroshima University).
- Prof. Dr. Chiaki Ogino (Kobe University) on “Strategies for Translating University Research into Start-ups”.
- Ms. Miki Nitani (Biotechworks-H2 Co.) on “ZERO WASTE Models”.
The afternoon plenary sessions will focus on Business & Research Collaboration involving IJBNet, ERIA, and JETRO Indonesia, followed by Award Lectures from distinguished JSPS Bridge Fellowship and PPI Award recipients.
Note: The General Assembly Meeting (16:00 – 17:00) is exclusive to JAAI Members.
Day 2: Technical Workshop (Tuesday, 10 February 2026)
A dedicated hands-on workshop focused on sustainability tools for researchers and policy-makers:
- Topic: Carbon Footprint Calculation and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as a Tools-Based Decision Making Approach.
- Instructor: Hismiaty Bahua, BRIN.
- Agenda: Principles of GHG emission calculation, hands-on exercises, and interpretation of results for Net Zero Indonesia 2045.
